Making My Own Stitch Markers for Knitting and Crochet

8th April 2015 By stephanie

With the help and encouragement of a Facebook friend who contributed to this post, I recently started making my own stitch markers for knitting and crochet, to offer on my Etsy shop. (Thanks, Lisa!)

What are stitch markers?

Stitch markers are used to mark the beginning of a round or a point where you want to increase or decrease. They can also be helpful with counting stitches while casting on. They are also used to help you count how many stitches you have on a row when you’re in the middle of a project, so that you don’t increase or decrease by accident. Here is more information about what they are and how to use them: http://blog.lionbrand.com/2011/07/25/how-to-use-stitch-markers/

The type of stitch markers I make are closed stitch markers.

Made from durable but shiny satin wire, they will fit up to 8mm/US 11 needles.

This video shows you how to use stitch markers in both knitting and crochet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVHjiZVCjtM

Are you a fan of Firefly, Serenity, the Harry Potter series, Star Trek, or the Lord of the Rings series? You can buy stitch markers with quotes from these movies and series by clicking on each picture below.
