In 1998-1999, I switched schools 6 times in 2 years of high school (Grades 11-12, or junior and senior years) because my mom and stepfather thought being snowbirds was a great idea: living in Winnipeg, Canada for 6 months of the year – the other half in Florida.
Neither of them cared about uprooting my sister and me, or what it would do to my high school education.
They left my older sister at her uni in Saskatchewan (first year, poor thing!), and then drove down to Florida with me. Needless to say, my sister felt abandoned.
Grade 11 – part 1: Canada high school #1
Grade 11 – part 2: Florida high school #1
Grade 11 – part 3: Canada high school #1 again.
Grade 12 – part 1: Canada high school #1 again
Grade 12 – part 2: Florida high school #2 (not the same one as the first one), even though we lived in the same place in Fort Myers. I don’t remember why I couldn’t attend the same high school as in Grade 11.
Grade 12: part 3 – Canada high school #3, from which I graduated.
Please don’t make your kids change schools this often. It was chaotic and stressful, even though I pulled down a 4.0 GPA. My social life was threadbare, and I made friends the first year that I had zero contact with the second time around.
Consequently, I learned to prefer being alone, rather than getting attached.
Please don’t do this to your kids if you can avoid it.
