Richard Dawkins: Islam is Already a Feminist Religion

25th July 2015 By stephanie

Another old white man telling us what feminism is REALLY like.

Prominent atheist Richard Dawkins has offered to help sow the seeds of feminism in Islam!

Really, we appreciate your help. Even though we don’t need it.

There already is a “feminist revolution” in Islam, Mr Dawkins. All you have to do is open your eyes and look for it, because it’s right there in front of your nose. It’s been there since the time of Mohammed (pbuh), and has continued into the 21st century.

Unfortunately, he likes to opine most often on the most extreme branches of religions. That gets him the most press, and spreads whitewashing misinformation about the population being studied.

As a man of science, Dawkins seems to have completely overlooked a fundamental rule of statistics regarding a sample shown in a normal (Gaussian) distribution: Since most adherents to every religion fall somewhere in the middle, extremists get more press. But they are certainly not a representative sample.

You can see in this picture that the two areas under the curve which are farthest from the centre, together make up less than 5% of the total area (100%).

In other words, if this was a sample of Muslim participants taken to see how many of them were extremist, and how many were more moderate, the extremists would fall under μ – 3σ and beyond to the left, and μ + 3σ and beyond to the right. The moderates would be between μ – 2σ and μ – 2σ.

See how the moderates form a much larger part of the curve than extremists?
